OUR STORY

L’Artisanat was born from a desire to unite beauty, sustainability, and function — without compromise. In an interior industry dominated by synthetics and short-term design, we want to show that there is another way: products that last, age beautifully, and are safe for both people and planet.

At L’Artisanat, we focus on pure, natural materials — in every layer. From the inner core to the outer fabric, we work with nature’s own resources: solid wood, natural latex, wool, linen, and recycled feathers. We combine traditional craftsmanship with bio-based innovation, such as plant-derived foams and leather and regenerated fibers. Our goal is to source and refine the best materials available today — without compromising nature or health.

“Throughout this journey, I’ve often been told that what I’m trying to achieve isn’t possible — that creating soft furniture entirely from natural materials would not be possible to do, and would not be durable enough. When I hear that, I think of my family’s bunads, the traditional Norwegian folk costumes. The one my daughter wears today was hand-sewn and embroidered by my great-grandmother nearly ninety years ago. Made from pure natural fibers and plant-based dyes, it has been worn through rain, sun, and play and by four generations — and is still as beautiful, comfortable, and cherished as ever. To me, it stands as living proof that authentic craftsmanship and pure materials endure.” - Ida Elizabeth Dehnes, Founder.

The ocean is deep source of inspiration — a place of calm and reflection, but also a reminder of connection and responsibility. It is the heartbeat of our planet, and its well-being is intertwined with our own. Every decision we make — every material we choose — is part of that shared ecosystem.

L’Artisanat is about more than furniture. It is about restoring respect for materials and creating objects with emotional and sensory value — pieces we wish to keep, care for, and pass on. When craftsmanship, materials, and values align, the result is what we call loveable stayers — things that belong, and are allowed to stay.

Our aesthetic is warm, timeless, and grounded, shaped by nature’s rhythm, texture, and imperfection. Through our work, we aim to push the interior industry forward — towards a healthier, more honest direction, where longevity and authenticity once again define true quality.

With a background from years in Scandinavian design and sales, founder Ida Elizabeth Dehnes saw how difficult it was to find genuinely sustainable solutions — and decided to build a brand that could make them a reality.
